Refresher /  Reactivate Program

Duration: 1/2 day
Prerequisites: Entry level or higher certification

Refresh your diving skills if you spent some time without diving. Depending on your level of experience and the date of your last dive, our Dive staff will recommend you the adequate refresher program, in confined water only or in open water.



PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) and Bubblemaker (BBM)

Duration: 1 day.
Prerequisites: None.
Swimming skills: Not Required.
Min. age: 10 yrs (8 yrs for Bubblemaker).
Max. depth: 12m (2m for Bubblemaker).

The world's most popular introduction to diving, this entry-level program allows you to experience the magic of being and breathing underwater. A briefing of equipment and basic breathing skills, followed by a practice session in shallow water prepares you for the experience of a lifetime. You'll explore wonderful coral reef, feel the amazing weightlessness of diving, and see things you've never seen before. The constant supervision and guidance of our PADI certified divemasters and instructors make this the perfect first step towards satisfying your curiosity of the sea. You can chose to complete Discover Scuba at Beach 2 or in more exotic locations like Inglis island or Tamarind camp.




PADI Scuba Diver (SD)

Duration: 2 - 3 days.
Prerequisites: None.
Swimming skills: Ability to float for 10 min.
Min. age: 10yrs.
Max. depth: 12m.

Ideal for those with limited time, the PADI Scuba Diver course provides you with the basics of Scuba Diving. After 3 theory modules, 3 sessions of confined water skills training and 2 open water dives up to 12 meters, you will receive a permanent license that allows you to dive to 12 meters under the supervision of a dive master or instructor. The Scuba Diver certification is valid worldwide and can be upgraded to the PADI Open Water certification at any time. If you have the desire to learn diving but don't have enough time for it, the Scuba Diver course is the best beginning.



PADI Open Water Diver (OWD)

Duration: 4 days.
Prerequisites: None
Swimming skills: Required.
Min. age: 10 yrs
Max. depth: 18m (12m for children under 12 yrs).

The Open Water Diver certification is the most recognized certification valid worldwide and does not require renewal.

This course will teach you the fundamentals of diving through a perfect mixture of theory (5 modules), 5 sessions of confined water skills training, equipment orientation and troubleshooting techniques, and 4 open water dives.

Anybody with a basic level of comfort in the water & basic swimming skills can sign up : a 10 min float test and 200 metres swim (or 300metres snorkelling) are required prior to certification.



PADI Adventure Dives and PADI Advance Open Water Diver

Duration: 2-3 days for Adventure Diver or PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
Prerequisites: Open Water Diver certification.
Swimming skills: Required.
Min. age: 10/15 yrs depending of the adventure dive and 12 years for Advanced Open Water.
Max. depth: 21m for Junior Adventure Diver / 30m for Adventure Diver.

If you've learnt the fundamentals of diving and are curious about what the big blue has to offer then start with the PADI Adventures in Diving program. Under the supervision of our instructors, the Adventure dives allow you to safely experience some of diving's most rewarding specialty activities, while helping you improve your dive skills.

Most importantly, you get to choose the dives that interest you. With Barefoot Scuba you can try deep diving, underwater navigation, wreck diving, night diving, search and recovery, drift diving, boat diving, underwater naturalist,Fish Identification, Nitrox/Enriched Air, Shark AWARE conservation multilevel and computer diving, peak performance buoyancy, underwater photography and videography.

Any dive of the Adventures in Diving program are credited towards the Advanced Open Water course or the Adventure diver certification. 3 Adventure dives are necessary to qualify for Adventure diver certification, and if you want to become an Advance Open Water diver, you will need 5 Adventure dives including deep and navigation dives.

Any Adventure dive can be credited to the same specialty diver course.

  • If the Night dive is chosen as one of the dives in the course, a minimum of 2 students are required for this dive.
  • If the underwater Photography or Videography dive is chosen as one of the dives in the course there will be an additional surcharge of Rs.2,000 per student.



PADI Enriched Air / Nitrox Course

Duration: 1 day.
Prerequisites: Open Water Diver.

Barefoot Scuba is happy to now announce the PADI Enriched Air Course commonly referred to as Nitrox.Make the most of your valuable underwater time with the PADI Nitrox course. As an "Enriched Air Diver" you have several benefits...

  • Stay underwater longer
  • Get back into the water sooner
  • Absorb less nitrogen during your dives.

Nitrox is becoming increasingly popular and is widely available in many popular dive destinations. A short video and small classroom sessions, learning all about enriched air and how to plan Nitrox dives using a dive computer .

2 optional Nitrox dives can be included in the course and you willexperience the advantages it has to offer! You may never want to dive on AIR again and will ask to dive with Nitrox from here on at every dive destination you visit. You could even combine your Open Water Course with the Nitrox Course now. Emergency First Response (EFR)

Duration: 1 day
Prerequisites : None

Have you ever wondered how you might help somebody in a first aid emergency situation? Take a step toward emergency preparedness with Emergency First Response.

EFR meets PADI Rescue Diver prerequisites, but teaches you the skills to assist people both on land and in the water. As one of the foremost international CPR and first aid training companies, Emergency First Response gives you the confidence to respond to medical emergencies in your every day world with your family, friends, neighbours and co-workers too.

The Emergency First Response course encompasses

  • CPR, primary care and secondary care for adults, (children and infants is optional)
  • Automated External Defibrillator Use (AED)
  • Basic Oxygen administration and handling.

PADI Rescue Diver (RD)

Duration: 3 - 4 days.
Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water Diver certification + EFR.
Swimming skills: Required.
Min. age: 12 yrs.

The PADI Rescue Diver course is probably the most challenging and rewarding course in recreational diving.

In this course, which many claim is the best they have taken; you will cover topics like Self-rescue and diver stress, Emergency management and equipment, Panicked diver response, In-water rescue breathing protocols, Egress (exits) and Dive accident scenarios.

A combination of theory, confined water skills training, and the final real-life scenario practice in open water will expand your knowledge and help you increase safety for yourself and those diving with you. Most importantly, rescue training can help you save a life.

PADI Specialties/Master Scuba Diver (MSD)

Prerequisites: Open Water Divers (some specialties can be for non divers like digital Underwater Photo and Project AWARE).
Swimming skills: Required.
Min. age: 10 to 15 yrs depending on the specialty.

We can offer you the following specialties at Barefoot Scuba : deep diving, underwater navigation, wreck diving, night diving, search and recovery, drift diving, underwater naturalist,Fish Identification, Nitrox/Enriched Air, Shark AWARE conservation, multilevel and computer diving, peak performance buoyancy, digital underwater photography.

The number of dives included in the specialty depend on the certification you choose, check with us at the time of booking.

Reach for the top of your sport, become the best of the best in recreational diving. The PADI Master Scuba Diver rating denotes superior achievement and proficiency in dive skills, experience and underwater activities.

After logging 50 dives and completing the PADI Rescue Diver course, choose 5 Specialty courses to earn your Master Scuba Diver certification.

PADI Dive Master (DM)

Duration: 15 to 30 days.
Prerequisites: Rescue Diver certification and EFR (done less than 24 months ago).
Swimming skills: Required.
Min. age: 18 yrs.

Barefoot Scuba's philosophy for DM training is to allow you to experience how a dive centre operates on a day-to-day basis, not just by reading manuals and doing exercises, but by helping our instructors train real students in their courses.

The rating of Divemaster indicates a person who has a high level of personal diving skill, has an instructors level of knowledge of diving theory, has significant training in how to assist an instructor during training activities, has exemplary rescue skills and is able to assume appropriate responsibilities that benefit the welfare of other divers.

With Barefoot Scuba you can now choose the appropriate Divemaster option based on your experience level. For divers who have already logged 60 or more dives and have a good amount of diving experience, option 1 is a perfect choice. However for divers who are fairly new to the underwater world, option 2 offers a comprehensive internship program that includes the Divemaster Course and all the additional diving and experience that you will require to be a strong and capable Divemaster.

PADI Assistant Instructor Course (AI)

Duration: 5 days.
Prerequisites: Divemaster , min.6 months certified diver, and 100 logged dives
Additional costs: PADI fees to pay directly to PADI by credit card

The Assistant Instructor Course gives you a great insight into what it will be like to be an instructor someday. As an Assistant Instructor, you are allowed to teach all knowledge development sessions from any PADI course. Being able to do so will make you more employable and will also make you a much more efficient team member. You can also independently teach the DSD program, or even teach the youngsters the Bubblemaker Program or Seal Team programs.



Instructor Courses and beyond

Duration: 12 - 14 days.
Prerequisites: Divemaster , min.6 months certified diver, and 100 logged dives

Emergency First Response Instructor Course (EFRI)

Duration: 1 day
Prerequisites: current EFR certification (2 years or less)

The Emergency First Response Instructor Course is a course for those who want to be able to teach primary care, secondary care, first aid and care for children to others. It is a really useful rating to have as these are things that you need outside the field of diving and can be taught to anyone. It does not just have to be in the dive environment but obviously applies in it as well. The EFR Instructor rating is a prerequisite to become a PADI Instructor so well worth getting.
